ITATM Certification Series
Working with Complex Trauma
This workshop focuses on understanding the neurological, physiological, and psychological impacts of trauma and effective strategies to depotentiate, reconsolidate, and help clients form new meaning of their trauma experiences. An introduction to the Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ® inclusive of a video demo will also be included. The Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) ® is an embodied model for reprocessing and reappraisal of the central details of trauma memories using a neurosequential approach layering somatic release, bilateral stimulation, visualization, resourcing and reframing in an integrative and structured manner to regulate the body, brain and mind simultaneously. This rich approach layers integrative techniques of expressive arts, bilateral stimulation, sensory processing, mindfulness, breathwork, cognitive reframing, movement and somatic work, visualization, resource installation and parts integration work.
Participants will learn about the ITATM approach and how this can be woven into clinical practice. This workshop will provide insight into techniques used for working with complex aspects of trauma such as sexual abuse, exploitation, dissociation, suicide ideation and other high risk situations. Insight into identifying and working with false alarms, calming the amygdala / security guard, and learning how to form new associations and new neural pathways will be a core part of this training which includes some experiential activities and many case examples to demonstrate treatment techniques. Workshop participants will also be taught specific strategies for working with complex aspects of treatment such as blocks, integrative parts work, addressing anomalous states and for working with intergenerational, preverbal, and medical traumas.
It is recommended that participants have completed the 5 day training in our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Treatment Model (ITATM) prior to taking this training.
